How it works
Five steps. No installer at your door.
N° 01
You join.
Pick a tier. Add your address, your four contacts, your medical notes. Five minutes in the app. No installer. No hardware delivered.
N° 02
Patrols begin.
A named, licensed operator slow-passes your street between dusk and dawn. Logged, time-stamped, photographed if you ask. Begins once we're licensed in your state.
N° 03
Panic in your pocket.
Hold the button three seconds. We alert your four emergency contacts at once with a live map of where you are, and ping your street and nearby members. In a life-threatening emergency you still call 000. We make sure the people closest to you know first.
N° 04
The street looks out.
Tap once if you see something off. We validate it. Three independent flags in 90 minutes redirect the patrol car, once licensed, and alert nearby members. You can also vouch for the real neighbours on your street, building a verified constellation that makes the network harder to spoof.
N° 05
A watched walk home.
Set an ETA before you leave. The app holds your live location. Miss your check-in or go silent and your contacts and street get your last position. Steady walks beside you in stages when you feel followed, and can fire panic for you.
Why we built it
The night a friend's house was broken into.
"By the time anyone answered the phone, the people in her kitchen had already left. The police came at 4 a.m. and took photographs of a back door. Three weeks later her insurance assessor took photographs of the same back door. Nobody had a photograph of the part that mattered. The moment it was still happening."
We started Vigil Guard because the residential security industry sells stickers and box sets, and what people actually want is for somebody to be paying attention. A car at the kerb when the lights go off. A button on the phone when something goes wrong. Both of those, on one quiet subscription.
We are not a guard service. We are not a hardware company. We do not sell cameras, sensors, or motion lights. We sell two promises. Attention while you sleep, and the people closest to you moving the moment you hit panic.
What we believe
The six principles.
- N° I. We alert, we don't dispatch. Your panic switch wakes your four contacts and your street with your live location. You still call 000 yourself in a life-threatening emergency. We make sure you're not alone while you do.
- N° II. The log is yours. Forwardable, exportable, deletable. We do not sell, share, or analyse it.
- N° III. Every operator is named. Every pass is numbered. You can veto an operator from your street without explanation.
- N° IV. The membership is month to month. Cancel from the app. No retention call, no exit interview.
- N° V. We do not watch your home. We watch over it. The product is human attention, scheduled.
- N° VI. Watchful, not vigilante. Lookout flags go to validation only, never member-to-member. Behaviour, not appearance. The app never asks you to confront, follow, or rally. You can also vouch for the real neighbours on your street, building a verified constellation that makes the network harder to spoof. Bad-faith flags cost the membership.
Questions we hear most
Asked and answered.
Is this a replacement for the police?
No. In a life-threatening emergency you call 000. They're the responders. Vigil Guard makes sure that when you hit panic, your four contacts and your street know instantly, with your live location, so help from people who care about you is moving while you make that call.
What happens when I press the panic button?
Hold the button for three seconds. Within seconds, your four emergency contacts get a call and an SMS with your live location and a map link, and your street and nearby members are alerted. If a contact can't take a call, the SMS still lands. You decide who to patch through to. For a life-threatening emergency, you still call 000 yourself. Vigil Guard's job is to make sure the people around you respond fast.
Do you use my cameras?
Only if you opt into the Sentry pillar, and only the cameras you specifically nominate. Sentry is in founding-cohort pilot, not yet open to all members. It runs through a small bridge device at your home, so your footage never leaves your network in raw form. AI summaries, not frames, reach you. You can mask any zone in your camera's view and that mask is applied before the AI sees a single pixel. Read the full chain at /sentry.
Can I veto an operator from my street?
Yes. In the app, tap the operator's name on any patrol log and select "Not on my street." You don't need to explain. Their roster is updated the same day. We don't ask why.
What if I move?
Change the address in the app. If you move within a covered suburb, your membership carries over with no admin. If you move outside coverage, you can keep the Watch tier (the panic switch works anywhere in Australia) or cancel without penalty. No exit interview, no retention call.
Is the Lookout anonymous?
Your identity is hidden from other members and from the wider street. Our validation system records who flagged what, so we can follow up and so anonymous flagging can't breed the worst of social media. Flags describe behaviour, never appearance. There is no race or ethnicity field. Bad-faith flagging costs the membership.
How do you know my neighbours are real?
Members vouch for the real residents on their street. Each vouch builds a verified constellation of trusted neighbours, so the people who get your alerts are people your street has confirmed. The more verified neighbours on a street, the stronger the network and the harder it is to spoof. Vouching describes residency, never appearance, and you control who you vouch for.
Is there a native app?
Yes. Vigil Guard is a native iOS app, in TestFlight now with App Store release pending. It shows a live "your home is watched" status, your protected-night streak, a live neighbourhood radar, and an ambient night-watch mode. The software runs in every Australian postcode. Patrol lights up state by state as we're licensed.
When does it actually start in my street?
Patrols begin once we're licensed in your state. The patrol licence is in flight now. The panic switch, Lookout and the watched walk home are live across Australia today. Crime Watch draws on real Crime Statistics Agency Victoria data, broken down by council area and postcode. Read it at /safety and /watch. We don't promise dates we don't hold.
How is this different from an alarm company?
An alarm company sells a sticker, a box, and a monitoring contract that calls the police after the sensor trips. We sell scheduled human attention before anything trips, and the moment something goes wrong, your contacts and your street know instantly. We don't compete with your alarm. We sit on top of it.
Where we are
National software now. Patrol, state by state.
The software runs in every Australian postcode from day one. Patrol opens cohort by cohort, suburb by suburb. We onboard a new patrol postcode only when we have an operator vetted, a route mapped, and a licence in that state. The waitlist tells us where to open next.
Check if your street is live at /street. A patrol unlocks once enough neighbours on your street claim a founding seat, once we're licensed.
The Watch tier (panic switch only) works anywhere in Australia. Patrol and Estate require local coverage.

What we are not.
We are not a replacement for the police. We will never frame ourselves as one.
We are not a vigilante platform. Lookout flags never reach another member's phone. They reach validation, never another member's phone.
We are not a hardware company. We do not sell cameras, sensors, alarms, or motion lights.
We are not a data broker. Your incident log, address, contacts and Sentry summaries are never sold, rented, or shared.
